10 Reasons why I was meant for Project Management:


10. I create Spreadsheets for budgets on buying new shoes... specifically polka-dotted ones.
9. I have a To-Do List for cleaning every room in my house.
8. Every file in my 2 Terabyte hard drive uses a naming convention.
7. My process is usually more creative than my idea (sad, but true).
6. I've given myself deadlines for organizing my music genres.
5. Putting other people's needs in front of mine is a hobby.
4. Spending 10 minutes to capitalize file names is fun! (<---- who says that?)
--->Amendment to 4: I totally use "Batch Rename" from Adobe Bridge to rename Maya files now :)

Kitchen of Terror

Co-Director, Animation Supervisor

 

Kitchen of Terror is a comedic horror about a potato named Spud, and his journey through a kitchen where dinner is being prepared. Trying deperately to escape, Spud sees his friends and loved ones perish on the stove and cutting board and finally winds up on the other side of the kitchen, where no potato has gone before. Stay tuned for updates!

Some of my duties included:

-Balance priorities best for story integrity and product quality (lather, rinse, repeat)
-Taking notes biweekly and distributing to necessary departments
-Meet with Supervisors and Directors to project deadlines and milestones
-Advise Directors on Software restrictions and raise red flags
-Create documents to track and record progress/renders in every department
-Establish and maintain a proprietary pipeline
-Block all scenes for pre-vis and final animation
-Prep artists with pipeline procedures and namng conventions
-Prep the voice actors for the auditions
-Schedule and manage the voice actor auditions and sessions
-Follow up with artists to make sure deadlines are met
-Problem Solve based on knowledge of programs, software, story, and resources
-Rearrange schedule based on deadlines and freelance artist availability
-Establish and maintain render farms

Labor of Love is about our legendary Cupid in a world where internet dating companies have taken over his job. Lost and in a financial crisis, Cupid and his secretary, Audrey, must find their place in the world again.

Produced with Justin Ellis, Eric Flores, Max Giganti, Leo Miro, and Alec Vaughan.

Some of my duties included:

-Correspond with producer while developing the script and characters
-Schedule and maintain meetings within the group of 5 team members
-Delegate storyboard artist and concept artist to convey producer's vision
-Choreograph final blocking and environment layout to best suit the story
-Compile an Animatic based on rough dialogue and storyboards
-Organize auditions for student actors to voice the characters
-Delegate tasks based on team member's interest and skills
-Schedule and maintain milestones
-Coordinate and convey ideas to the musician responsible for composition
-Track and manage progress of all artists
-Take notes during meetings/ critiques and create an action list
-Create spreadsheets for tracking scenes, renders, and action lists
-Problem-Solve with team members based on red flags and restrictions
-Maintain render farm, compile scenes and composite
-Edit and pass-on to sound editor for final compositing
-Present at the short film premiere and participate in final post-mortem
-Identify problems and ways to improve

LA Irish Film Festival 2011 was a great success! This year, I met Lisa McLaughlin the Director and volunteered my time to help with the graphics, website management, and posters. Above are some examples of the content I created and after hours and hours of emails, phone calls, and late night pizza, I helped her and the team make this the best year yet!




Computer Graphics Club

President, Vice President (2008-2010)


 

Started as a small group of Computer Graphics students wanting to learn more about their industry, the Computer Graphics Club has now become a standard expectation for student participation at California State University, Chico. In 2009, I was elected the Vice President and later moved up to President during my senior year.

I helped arrange and run many of the tournaments to help raise funds and awareness for the club, established great connections between departments for further student collaboration on animation and game production for the school, brought in lectures from major industry figures, as well as helped create the Industry Workshop, one of the most notable and valuable experiences for students, to date. We invited many industry professionals to do a panel discussion and talk to the students about what they need to do to succeed in the film, game, and animation industry (in politics and in their work).

I am currently in contact with students and alumni to help establish what we hope to be a strong bond to bloom new talent and network when work is scarce. Enjoy viewing some of the good times that we shared by clicking the photos above!
